100 years ago 6th August 1924 the Fifth Australian National Football Carnival Commenced
(6th August 1924) the Fifth Australian National Football Carnival was held in Tasmania at North Hobart Oval. (6th-15th August 1924)
This was the first time Tasmania had hosted the National Carnival. The 1924 National Carnival was contested by all six states (Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia)
Tasmania also hosted the Tenth (1947) and the 16th (1966) editions of the Australian National Carnival at North Hobart Oval.
Currently at the Hobart State Library at 91 Murray Street (Level 2), there is a football display that showcases items from the 1924, 1947 and 1966 Carnivals and some other items from other national carnivals around Australia.
